“Introduction to tree climbing” Workshop – Palmerston North 18-20 June 2012
Below a few photos of our last arboricultural workshop “Introduction to tree climbing” in Palmerston North. In this three day course the participants learned how to access the tree canopy and move into a work position safely. We also practices basic aerial rescue techniques for tree climbers.
Some of the techniques taught:
- Installing a cambium saver from the ground
- How to use and store a throw line
- Traditional climbing systems
- Standard configuration of the hitch climber system
- O-rig configuration of the Hitch climber system
- Self-rescue and basic rescue techniques for tree climbers
Great thanks to the Massey University Manawatu for allowing us to use there beautiful trees and to Treetools for the tent that sheltered us from the worst weather.
