From the 25-27 June 2012 Pro Climb held an arboricultural rigging workshop for tree climbers and arborist in Auckland.
The first day was an introduction workshop, introducing the participants to modern tree rigging techniques, material and gear. The participants learned the most common knots and the difference between rope materials. Pro and cons of different rigging system and rigging equipment was discussed.
On the second day the participants were introduced to lifting techniques, mechanical advantage system , traverse rigging techniques, hazard identification while tree rigging and the use of tree rigging winches. Participants were encouraged to setup systems and to understand the forces generated in rigging operation. The third day was reserved for speed and sky line setups in tree rigging. Understanding the complexity of forces involved in sky line setups is important to reduce the risk in the operation.
